where every wrong was accounted for and true justice was delivered without compromise. Those whose names were absent from the Book of Life were consigned to the lake of fire—the final, irreversible second death.
The Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11–15)
The Great White Throne Judgment is the final biblical reckoning at the end of human history, where God executes absolute, impartial justice over all the resurrected dead before establishing the eternal state.
Key Elements
The Throne & Judge: A majestic, radiant throne symbolizing supreme sovereignty, absolute purity, and uncompromised holiness, presided over by God.
The Cosmic Transition: Earth and sky flee from His presence (Rev. 20:11), situating this judgment in an expanse between the old creation and the New Creation (Rev. 21).
The Assembly: The realm of the dead surrenders every soul. Earthly status, wealth, and power dissolve; all stand completely equal—"small and great alike" (Rev. 20:12).
The Records & Verdict
The Books of Works: An exhaustive, infallible record of every thought, word, motive, and action. Each individual is evaluated against God's holy standard, leaving no room for human pretense or excuses.
The Book of Life: The registry of the redeemed. Anyone whose name is not written in this book is cast into the lake of fire—the irreversible second death (Rev. 20:15).
The Destruction of Death: Death and Hades itself are thrown into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14), permanently eradicating sin, mortality, and rebellion to usher in eternal righteousness.
